HAVE YOU ALREADY MET PEARL? Most Finnish children know her well. I have always loved stories, and I have also transferred this love to my children. Our days together have always been full of stories: the stories of books and movies, as well as the stories the mother has made up herself, which the children have often found the funniest. There is naturally a more modern way to transmit stories in the lives of the present day's children: a computer. I however noticed that the Internet lacks the stories with which I can let my children safely be. I did not find content created genuinely for children, in their own terms - without violence and other dubious elements; content that would be entertaining, activating, and supportive. My company, Alpakka Media, was born from these two starting points: love for stories and urge to serve the needs of the demanding audience of children. Our first production, Pearl's World, saw daylight two years ago, being an immediate success both as a TV animation and as an Internet game.
